A few places you should try:
Jimmy’s Sandwiches and Ice Cream in Woods Hole, MA
Ashley’s Ice Cream in Guilford and Branford, CT

You already went to Truly’s, in Wellesley, but you didn’t get the soft serve!!! You need to give it another try– get it right this time. Haha. 🙂

Love the site!

There is as another Big Daddy’s in Maine. It is called Big Daddy’s North, located in Hollis Maine. Owned by the sister (me) and husband (kyle) of the owners in Wells. Our father opened the original Big Daddy’s in 1976. We opened the second site in Hollis right near the saco river in 2006.

If you ever head inland in Maine, Route 202 in Hollis Near the Saco River (Great Jumping and rope swing), stop by Big Daddy;s North. We have the same recipes and our shop will bring you back to 1976! Old fashioned, country goodness.

Please, when you come to Cape Cod, check out Polar Cave Ice Cream Parlour, on Route 28 at the Mashpee/Cotuit Town Line. Simply great ice cream with service to match.

They offer the Worlds Smallest Ice Cream Cone for a mere 50 cents.

Big Daddy’s North has the best ice cream in the state of Maine. I hate September bc it means BDN closes for the season!

The next time you’re in southern Maine you should stop by Shain’s of Maine ice cream in Sanford (the town next to Wells). They have some pretty amazing ice cream such as the Java Crunch (my mom and I go through 1 quart in a day)! And I believe they are open year round, and they have really great prices too!

I am a New England native transplanted in Missouri (I noticed you went to Mizzou!). We miss all the fabulous ice cream establishments you highlight on your page.
One that you need to visit is Gray’s Ice Cream in Tiverton, RI; it is located at the Tiverton Four-Corners area (intersection of Rtes 77 & 179). http://www.graysicecream.com/

You guys have got to check out Benson’s Ice Cream in West Boxford, MA.

But my ultimate must eat is Findeisen’s in Methuen, MA. They have three locations, one opening very recently and featuring a Coldstone style mix in option. I haven’t visited that one yet, but over the two other locations the Methuen is a way superior product. It might be the nostalgia factor associated with it, though. The place makes the best ice cream I’ve ever had. It’s kind of in a seedy location and kind of a sketchy looking place (No, seriously, I think it’s a triple-wide trailer) but it’s totally worth it for the very generously sized cones.

Next time you guys are in Maine you have to check out The Soda Fountain in Ocean Park, ME! Also, next time you’re in RI you need to check out The Ice Cream Machine in Cumberland, RI!!

Hi!

I came across your website and thought that the “I Pledge Project” may be a topic you’d like to consider for your blog. Stratton Leopold – world famous producer of Savannah’s favorite ice cream and Hollywood blockbusters – is recruiting fellow ice cream shop owners across America to take part in the “I Pledge Project” campaign at the national level in an effort to promote patriotism amongst our youth across America. We’re hoping that enough word gets out so that communities get to nominate their local ice cream shops to participate in this patriotic event!

I can provide more information and images if you wish. Just e-mail me at info-at-leopoldsicecream.com. We’re also happy to answer any further questions you may have regarding the project as well as provide more information on participating shops across the nation. We expect many requests in the coming months given that the National Ice Cream Retailers Association (NICRA) is also spreading the word! I hope you find this e-mails useful for you; don’t hesitate to call (info on website) or e-mail us with any questions.

All our best,

Gustavo Arias and the Leopold’s Team

Hi!

I’m trying to track down a farm-style dairy stand near Ashland MA., that my Mom & I visited in about 1993. I remember it was on a hill, it was fairly large (as big as Nick’s, maybe a bit bigger), with indoor seating and a lot of windows.

I’d love to go back there again – it was a great old-timey place!

if you’re in Portsmouth again, try Carleson and Byrne, it’s a chocolate place that sells about 5 flavors of ice cream, but I thought it was pretty good
