Being stubborn enough to never move my bank means I get to make this drive too often. With rent due, this was one of those times. The best part is that for the first time in 2009, both roadside ice cream joints were open. Erikson’s was the one I stopped at for a Wintergreen Chip cone.

While the tips of the trees had yet to blossom, the cones of kids are already being topped with jimmies. My wintergreen chip cone was bright and refreshing with that strong mint taste. The chocolate chips here are the flat kind and they are just thick enough to have real substance, and with their healthy distribution, it is a great contrast to the wintergreen. The best part is that every tub of ice cream is fresh and new and that is very apparent in the taste.

There’s not really enough distance from Maynard to Weston to get my appetite going enough to dive into a second cone. I’m sure that I’ll make it back here soon enough, but I’m throwing in a new picture of Cedar Hill Dairy Joy to show proof that it is indeed open for 2009.
